Frequently asked questions
1. Who is this trip for?
Independent travelers looking for a private or semi-private tour experience with most elements (i.e. transport, accommodation, main activities) organized and some (meals, activities) left to choose/do independently. Our main focus is to offer a safe, controlled experience that does not ‘feel’ like a traditional tour but does provide the comfort, safety and stress-free benefits of an organized tour.
2. Does this trip depart daily/frequently?
No. It only departs upon request (i.e. when booked by one or more customers).
3. Is this a group tour?
It can be. We will organize this tour upon request with the number of participants in your own party. We welcome separate individuals/groups to join and split costs but we are ready to depart whenever customers request to do so.
4. Does this trip use public transportation?
Except for taxis and the occasional short bus ride, this trip provides private transportation for about 90% of the time. This way we control the speed, safety and the sights/stops to be enjoyed during the tour.
5. Is this a guided trip?
Yes.
6. Which language is this trip guided in?
Our guides are always fluent in English and Spanish (native tongue). Some are fluent in other languages as well, but given the nature of both languages (international, local), customers should be fluent in at least one of them.
7. Why is this trip referred to as an “overland” tour?
We avoid using planes and instead design our tours to travel overland during the day to really get under the skin of the country and not miss anything. In addition, we are certain it is always safer to travel under the sunlight. In the near future, we will add more elements of ‘overland’ travel such as rigs and rooftop tents.
8. What makes this trip different from the rest?
No overnight, public buses. No planes that let you miss the best of the countryside. Guided by knowledgeable, local guides with international standards (most have lived in western countries).
9. Where will the group stay?
We stay in carefully selected hotels that range from 2 to 5 stars and when necessary/requested, use unique forms of accommodation such as campgrounds, dispersed campgrounds, boats, ecolodges, homestays, etc. You can see the details on every tour page.
10. Is this an all-inclusive trip?
Not quite. While we do include the most important elements such as accommodation, transportation and some meals and tours, some are left for you to choose independently. Why should you pay in advance for a tour/activity you are not interested in?
